Gregory Harrison is an East Coast Music Award-winning and Dora-nominated composer, producer, sound designer, and performer based in Toronto. He has been described as a “percussion and electronics wizard” (Bob Boilen, NPR Music) and thrives on exploring the space between organic and electronic mediums. His extensive resume spans artists and groups including Jeremy Dutcher, Cirque du Soleil, Video Games Live, Toronto Dance Theatre, R. Murray Schafer, and Fred Penner. He has performed extensively internationally at notable venues and events including Massey Hall, NPR Tiny Desk Concerts, the JUNOs, and The Kennedy Center.
Harrison composed, recorded, and produced Lighthouse, a collaboration with soprano Maureen Batt that won East Coast Music Awards for Classical Recording of the Year and Classical Composer of the Year. His work in games includes serving as lead composer for Soft Rains Games’ Ambrosia Sky, creating the original score for both Act 1 and Act 2. His commissions and media work span music, dance, film, television, and games, with projects for Soft Rains Games, Pixelmatic, ProArte Danza, Toronto Dance Theatre, Architek Percussion, Sleepy Bear Productions, Popular Demand Pictures Inc., Frank Media, Hemmings House Productions, and others.
Harrison is a professor at Humber Polytechnic, where he teaches Music Production for Games. He has also guest-lectured at the University of Toronto, Acadia University, the University of Arizona, the University of New Brunswick, and Dance Arts Institute on music production, game audio, technology, musicianship, and composition.
Harrison is also co- founder of his groups Mear and Taktus marimba duo.
